Visit Syracuse

Visit Syracuse plays a vital role in Onondaga County's economic development strategy through its focus to grow the area's tourism industry. Visit Syracuse is an affiliate of CenterState CEO and Onondaga County’s official marketing organization; leading the production of over $863 million in direct visitor spending annually. As the region’s only accredited destination marketing organization (DMO), Visit Syracuse works to generate short-term and future income for businesses, employment for residents and tax revenue for local government.

Visit Syracuse’s mission is to strengthen the positive awareness of the City of Syracuse and Onondaga County as a convention and visitor destination; to increase revenues and stimulate economic development and growth for the community.

The Syracuse area encourages visitors and residents to celebrate their passions; which is the inspiration behind the new brand tagline, Syracuse. Do Your Thing. The phrase is a bold, open-ended, action-based challenge to the over-used, under-effective tourism slogan, “Something for Everyone”. It customizes that message to speak specifically to the audience member Visit Syracuse is trying to reach. It’s Central New York’s version of “Just Do It”. The region’s only accredited Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) leaves it to the consumer to define what his/her “thing” is; setting the stage for customer groups to celebrate unique and diverse interests.

Visit Syracuse’s sales, services and marketing initiatives are all extensions of the Syracuse. Do Your Thing promise. Visit Syracuse increases overnight visitation by encouraging meeting planners world-wide to host major events in Onondaga County; while offering first-class, complimentary assistance to all meeting planners as they welcome their attendees. Some of the many meetings/events known to frequent the area include sports, hobbies, religions and much more. For these planners, the Do Your Thing promise is real. Visit Syracuse’s quality of service and dedication to enhance the visitor’s experience with the brand promise is one of the reasons major events continue to return year after year.

The region’s largest tourism promotion agency also shares the brand promise with all forms of media (print, social, broadcast, international, etc…). One of the best ways to allow journalists to do their “thing” is through interactive and informative familiarization (FAM) tours. These travel writers get to do their “thing” in Syracuse and are eager to share their exciting and fun experiences with diverse audiences around the world.
