Prevention is vital to your employees’ health and productivity. Through this special offering quality and affordable programs targeted at promoting a healthy lifestyle are available to CEO member businesses and employees through the Prevention Network.

For over six decades the Prevention Network has served as an advocate, educator and prevention developer for the Central New York Region.  

Free Products and Services Include:

  • Assess and recommend Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) free workplace guidelines that include procedures to achieve, establish and maintain a comprehensive AOD Policy.   This policy includes Federal and state regulations, related to the employees and customers of member agencies and business.    A priority for implementation is the protection of company assets and property plus the safety of workers and customers while simultaneously maintaining quality and integrity of member products.   Prevention Network agrees to work collaboratively with member entities to develop a tailored policy and implementation plan.   • Brief in-house educational opportunities for membership agencies and businesses.   Purpose is to provide prevention, treatment and recovery specialists who have knowledge in a number of areas of interest and concern regarding alcohol, other drugs and addictive behaviors.  By talking to our Specialists to develop a focused topical area, these complimentary educational sessions can be arranged to meet your employees’ interest and concern.  Some brief topics might be:  Parenting for Prevention, What is “water”? or the Neurochemistry of Addictions.  We will work with you to target your needs.  Contact: Beth Hurny, LMSW, CASAC at 471-1359 ext. 308 or bhurny@PreventionNetworkCNY.org

  • Prevention, Treatment and Recovery guidance regarding alcohol, tobacco and other drug issues is available to you.   Confidential consultation is a phone call away when you speak to one of the Prevention Network specialists during office hours Monday-Friday, 8:30am to 4:30PM.  We can guide and assist you in many ways.  Contact:  Community Specialist at 471-1359.


Additional for Fee Products and Services Include:

  • Supervisory and management training to identify signs and symptoms of alcohol and other drug (AOD) use relevant to drug policy “reasonable suspicion”.  This training provides supervisory staff the ability to identify potential AOD workplace issues for documentation and follow-up confrontation with afflicted employees.  Early intervention and problem identification are significant strategies to minimize the negative impact AOD can have on your work site.  For more details contact the following staff.   • Training for Intervention Procedures (TIPS) trains servers, sellers, and consumers of alcohol how to prevent intoxication, drunk driving, and underage drinking.
