Syracuse, NY – The Eldercare Foundation is pleased to welcome world-renowned Hall of Fame keynote speaker, author, entrepreneur, workplace performance expert and acrobat Dan Thurmon to Syracuse for his first performance in Upstate New York. Thurmon will present his transformational “Off Balance on Purpose” keynote presentation at the Foundation’s second annual Legacy Luncheon, scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the Oncenter’s Nicholas J. Pirro Convention Center.

Known for delivering powerful, customized keynotes in jaw-dropping style, Thurmon performs handstands on podiums while discussing balance, juggles sharp objects to teach principles of performance under pressure, and weaves through audiences on a six-foot unicycle to visually amplify principles for navigating change. Using every bit of his passion and ability to educate and inspire, Thurmon offers a memorable and informative presentation unlike anything you’ve experienced before.

Complementing Thurmon’s performance will be the presentation of the Foundation’s second annual Legacy Awards, recognizing community members/organizations and Nascentia Health patients who have made a profound and lasting impact on the greater Syracuse community or shown a commitment to advocating for the aging and/or eldercare services.

The Eldercare Community Champion Award will be presented to Rescue Mission Alliance in recognition of their commitment to serving our community’s most vulnerable populations and to ending hunger and homelessness. While the organization’s programs and services have evolved over the decades, their core values of faith, hope and love have remained steadfast

The Eldercare Achiever Award will be presented to Nascentia Health patient June Davis in recognition of her dedication to aging gracefully at home and in her community. A volunteer fitness instructor and active member of her local church, the 96-years-young Baldwinsville resident serves as an example for all those who are aging; she has grown older in number, but not in spirit.

The Amelia Greiner Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented posthumously to Roslyn R. Bilford in honor of her lifelong dedication and commitment to Central New York and to the countless individuals she inspired throughout her prestigious career. In the spirit of Home Aides of Central New York’s founder, she gave selflessly of her time and talents in service to the community.

The event is scheduled to begin with registration at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch and award presentations at 12:00 and Thurmon’s performance at 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person and may be purchased online at https://bit.ly/LegacyLuncheonTickets.

Event proceeds will benefit the Eldercare Foundation, one of two foundations that are a division of Nascentia Health, a full-service home health care agency committed to making a profound difference in the lives of patients by providing expert, high-quality care where they want it most – in their homes.

“We hold this event in the hope of raising our community’s compassion for aging individuals and their families,” notes Kate Rolf, President and Chief Executive Officer. “By recognizing the exemplary contributions of our honorees, we raise awareness of the importance of caring about, and caring for, our community’s elders.”
