The Digital Communication Manager coordinates digital communications for CenterState CEO, supporting events, programs, and strategic objectives of the organization. Requirements include strengths in content creation and working with multiple departments to implement digital and social media solutions for the organization. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the organization’s mission and the Central New York community.

The Digital Communication Manager develops and maintain digital best practices, executes consistent message delivery, and leverages digital and social activities across the organization.

Tasks and projects include executing social strategies to increase member engagement and event participation across programs, curating and developing content for social and digital platforms, building and maintaining a strong web and digital presence for the organization, and tracking and monitoring analytics to ensure new media tools are used to their maximum potential.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (additional duties may be assigned)

  • Develop and execute social media communications in brand voice for the organization across all platforms, coordinating across departments and with affiliated pages and sites as needed.
  • Engage internal subject matter experts and stakeholder to create content that will perform well on social and web properties.
  • Develop and maintain website content at and other organizational sites. Troubleshoot with outside vendors as needed.
  • Develop and design, in partnership with director of marketing, graphics for web and social platforms to promote programs, events and other communication priorities.
  • Project management, including working with outside vendors, partners and members to maintain website and develop videos as needed.
  • Monitor digital trends; create and consult on solutions for the organization.
  • Develop, maintain, monitor and report on digital analytics, KPIs for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram and website, to grow audiences and increase member engagement.
  • Assist with managing digital advertising opportunities within website and digital communications.
  • Work with internal CRM database and outside vendors as needed to optimize functionality of the CenterState CEO website.
  • Develop digital action plans for events, programs, short-term and long-term initiatives.
  • Translate traditional print content to social and web content.
  • Curate content, write, lay out and produce a weekly Constant Contact internal e-newsletter for staff.
  • Support CenterState CEO’s integrated and affiliated partners as needed.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Communications, new media, marketing or related field education, training or equivalent professional experience (2-3 years) recommended.
  • In-depth knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) and social media monitoring tools; experience using platforms for organizations/brands.
  • Strong writing and communications skills; ability to create content in appropriate brand voice across various communication mediums.
  • Strong project management skills, including technical proficiency for web and social platforms; ability to analyze challenges and create solutions.
  • Strong knowledge, skills or demonstrable aptitude in website management; experience working with content management systems (e.g., Drupel, WordPress).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting, both in and outside of the department.
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented, and highly organized.
  • Ability to multi-task, adapt and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office is a must.
  • Proficiency in Constant Contact is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (particularly InDesign) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Google Analytics is preferred.
  • Experience with digital photography and video production/editing is a plus.
  • Some knowledge of SEO and ability to produce keywords for products added to site.

Other Duties:

  • Assist with regular member communications and special projects, including content development and writing, as needed.
  • Assist in the production, promotion, and execution of CenterState CEO events. Duties may include photography, drafting materials and interaction with staff, guests, participants and the media.
  • Provide general support to other Communications Department team members as needed.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. but can be flexible as agreed to by portfolio lead. Full time non-exempt employees are required to work a minimum of 37.5 hours but no more than 40 hours per week.


No travel outside of the Central New York region is expected for this position.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

This is largely a sedentary role; however, it may require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Attendance at CenterState CEO events and functions may require standing for prolonged periods of time.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.
