Job Summary:

Provide the vision, leadership, and direction necessary to support the core business strategy and mission of CenterState CEO to increase membership and retention of members, to reach and/or expand populations that are not served or underserved, and act as a resource for sales and retention activities for the entire organization. Closely coordinate with the organization’s other portfolios and lines of business – economic inclusion; innovation and entrepreneurship; and research policy and planning on matters pertaining to member engagement, retention, and new member development.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

  • Develop and implement strategies designed to meet membership growth and retention goals.  Manage the Membership Services team on engaging new and current members to support identified new member sales and retention targets. 
  • Ensure consistent tracking of member and potential member engagement throughout the organization by various portfolio and program staff. 
  • Manage the engagement of all members including the coordination and development of annual engagement plans for all high level partners and investors.
  • Meet with prospective and current members to provide them with a full suite of value added programs, services and events focused on solving core business problems (increased revenue, lower costs, access to capital, just in time intelligence, and government advocacy). 
  • Work closely with Communications and Marketing to ensure that core themes, messages, and membership materials are delivered consistently to targeted audiences in a manner that is in keeping with the brand and meeting the needs and expectations of those audiences.
  • Coordinate and collaborate across the organization on the initial and ongoing utilization of a new Enterprise Resource Platform or Customer Relationship Management system, ensuring broad adoption and maximizing efficiency.  
  • Provide support to the SVP of Business and Economic Development relating to new initiatives focused on providing relevant and valuable member services.
  • Work with the Membership Advisory Committee to ensure input and engagement on member services and initiatives relating to member growth and retention.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision of the Membership Services Team, with responsibility for execution of recommendations regarding quantity and quality of work, hiring and separations, etc.  Frequent responsibility for planning, coordinating and directing the activities of subordinates.  Oversees the following personnel: Membership Manager, Sales Manager, and Director of Member Services.

Education and Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5 years progressive, hands-on experience in customer relationship management and sales process development / execution.
  • 3-5 years of management experience or a commiserate combination of education and decision making responsibilities.  

Special Requirements:

  • Regular day travel.
  • Required to work beyond normal work hours on a regular basis.
  • Occasional weekend work or working from home may be required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in CRM management and development software/solutions
  • Computer proficiency including word processing, excel, spreadsheets, and generating reports using standard software applications.
  • Financial/business acumen.
  • Significant familiarity with the region’s primary business sectors. 
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects and details simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision making skills.
  • Excellence in interpersonal and communication skills, including writing and making effective presentations to internal and external top management officials.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents to clearly articulate the need for specific strategies.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
  • Proven leadership in program and resource development.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Close mental and visual attention required to perform work dealing primarily with preparing, analyzing, and interpreting data and figures, using a computer terminal, and/or extensive reading.
  • General office equipment is used. 

Work Environment:

There is no exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Work is performed in a typical office work environment with outside travel to client/member/prospect locations.
