The OCC Foundation will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a fall fundraiser, “Dining From A Distance.” The event will be held Thursday, November 12 from 6p.m. to 8:30p.m. Tickets are $55 per person. All proceeds benefit the Lazer Response Fund which supports our students who face unprecedented challenges due to COVID-19.

The concept behind Dining From A Distance is similar to those “Zoom Happy Hours” which have become popular during the pandemic. OCC Foundation supporters will be able to dine together from the comfort of their own homes. Here’s how it works:

  • Event participants order their gourmet meal on the College’s website in advance. Options include:
    • First course: butternut squash bisque, curried apples, herb oil, pepitas
    • Second course: roast chicken, twice baked sweet potato, green beans, thyme butter, cider glaze or maple coffee roasted cauliflower, twice baked sweet potato, green beans, thyme butter, cider glaze
    • Third course: maple upside down cake, salted maple crème, candied almonds
    • A menu consisting of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options is also available.
  • Meals can be picked up at either the SRC Arena on the OCC Campus, at Pure Market and Eatery located at 10 Genesee Street in Auburn, or can be shipped for an additional charge.
  • Book your virtual table with friends and dine together!
  • During the event there will be remarks from Onondaga Community College President Dr. Casey Crabill, and conversations with Chef Deb Schneider and Chef James Taylor of OCC’s Hospitality Management degree program.

Dining From A Distance is presented by Community Bank, N.A. Other generous supporters include C&S Companies, The Digital Hyve, Bond Schoeneck & King Attorneys, Visions Federal Credit Union, SRC Inc., Dr. Emad Rahim, and Jim & Beth Seeley.

“We encourage everyone to join us for a fun night of gourmet food and great conversation for a wonderful cause. Our students continue to be severely impacted by the pandemic. I’m grateful to the OCC Foundation and our generous donors who have come up with an innovative way to support our students in these unprecedented times,” said OCC President Dr. Casey Crabill.
