VNA Homecare Presents Employee Recognition Awards

Syracuse, NY – VNA Homecare’s 2nd Annual Employee Recognition and Holiday Celebration was a huge success, with more than 270 employees, family members and community leaders in attendance.

Held at the Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel on Friday, January 15, the event included a cocktail hour, formal dinner, dancing and gift basket raffles. The highlight of the evening, however, were the employee recognition awards presented to employees who have made significant contributions to VNA Homecare throughout the course of the year.

The 2015 honorees were:

Mental Health Aide Specialist of the Year
Janet Sovik, Home Health Aide

Janet goes above and beyond to provide exceptional care and handles challenging situations with patience and professionalism. She has a “no nonsense” yet compassionate demeanor that calms her clients and helps her relate to them. She has worked for Home Aides of Central New York, a division of VNA Homecare, for 17 years.

Hospice Aide Specialist of the Year
Christine Van Volkenburgh, Home Health Aide

Christine is a dedicated, reliable and compassionate employee who is highly praised by her clients.  She provides truly exceptional end-of-life care, and her calm, compassionate and nurturing nature brings comfort to her clients and their families. Christine has worked for Home Aides of Central New York, a division of VNA Homecare, for ten years.

Alzheimer’s/Dementia Aide of the Year
Patricia Borst, Home Health Aide

Pat has worked for Home Aides of Central New York, a division of VNA Homecare, for five years. She is a dedicated and loyal employee who regularly volunteers to cover extra cases and never complains about the long hours. Pat takes great pride in her work and enjoys the opportunity to serve as another person’s eyes and ears.

Pediatric Aide Specialist of the Year
Shinikqua Cobb, Home Health Aide

Shinikqua is a dedicated and loyal employee who has a special knack for working with pediatric clients. Her dedication to her clients is an inspiration to her peers, and her passion for her career is infectious.Shinikqua has worked for Home Aides of Central New York, a division of VNA Homecare, for seven years.

Aide of the Year
Nellie Doyle, Home Health Aide

Nellie began her career as a home health aide 11 years ago and has dedicated more than 19,000 hours to caring for her clients. She is kindhearted and approachable in all she does, and her clients appreciate her pleasant and respectful nature. Nellie represents VNA Homecare in a positive and professional manner and has proven to be a true asset to our team.

Outstanding Customer Service
Becky Sauve, Patient Care Coordinator

Becky has a great rapport with many patients and staff. She is always willing to help out when needed and is described as a great “team player.” Becky serves as a role model for her co-workers and is a strong advocate for improvements that enhance customer satisfaction. She has worked for VNA Homecare for four years.

Office Employee of the Year
Mary Jane Turner,Office Assistant

Mary Jane sits at VNA Homecare’s reception desk and is the first person visitors encounter upon arriving at our Syracuse headquarters.  Her kindness, willingness to take on new projects, and ability to multitask with a smile make her a true role model. She has worked for VNA Homecare for six years.

Rookies of the Year
Kelly Boulier, RN, Case Manager

Kelly is described as a dependable, flexible patient advocate with an infectious personality. A registered nurse based in Oneida County, she has been a true asset to the team in that region of the state and is always willing to go above and beyond to help her patients and her teammates.  Kelly has worked for VNA Homecare for one year.

Gabrielle Buczek, RN, Registered Nurse

Gabrielle is always willing to give assistance, documents independently, and prioritizes her day in an impressive manner. She is described as a kind-hearted nurse who is a great addition to the system. She has worked for VNA Homecare for six months.


Nurse of the Year
Amanda Hibbard, RN, Case Manager

Amanda is a team player who always puts her patients’ needs first. She is always willing to rearrange her schedule to accommodate a team call-in or new admission and is ranked among the agency’s top four employees for miles traveled in Onondaga County each week. She has worked for VNA Homecare for one year.


Clinician of the Year
Lucrecia Agcaolli-White, OT, Occupational Therapist

A college professor once told Lucrecia that she would do great things, and she has done just that at VNA Homecare - for both her patients and her co-workers. She is always willing to go the extra mile, even volunteering to assist a new employee who had recently relocated from the Philippines. Lucrecia has worked for VNA Homecare for ten years.


Heart of Home Care Honoree of the Year
Hannah Moyer, RN, Case Manager

Hannah sets an example for her peers by going above and beyond each and every day. She pursued a career in home health care with the hope of establishing meaningful connections with her patients, and she is amazed by the number of kind, inspiring and interesting patients she has met. Hannah has worked for VNA Homecare for one year.

Awards were also presented to employees who have achieved employment milestones with the system (e.g., 5, 10, 15 or 20 years of service).
